Skills for Living with Your Family Gundog
Introductory Course: 30th June & 1st July (Fully Booked!) 2018-Spectator places available!
Follow-on Course: 1st & 2nd September (Fully Booked) 2018-Spectator places available!
Do you own a retriever, spaniel, pointer or x-breed of any of these breeds? Would you like to learn how to understand, manage and control your dog on walks, day to day?
The introductory course will be a mixture of theory and practical with lots of opportunities to ask questions and gain real insight into utilising your dog’s natural abilities. At the first course Jane will introduce everyone to the basic control exercises used in gundog work, which are so helpful when controlling your dog on walks day to day. These includes impulse control and using a whistle to communicate with the dog. Jane will evaluate each dog individually and give you lots of homework to train over the subsequent couple of months.
In September Jane will run a follow-on course, designed to progress those basic skills learnt. This
course will also start to look at the more advanced exercises of directional retrieves and hunting. All
designed for you to have fun with your dog whilst building a really solid training relationship and
thereby improving your overall confidence in off-lead situations.
This course is suitable for family gundog breeds of any age whose owners would like to learn to understand and manage them better day to day. To attend, dogs must have an interest in toy play and basic pick up (or retrieve) skills. The course can also be attended by other breeds whose owners wish to expand the skills outlined above.

Jane has a lifelong passion for gundogs, living with and training them for both competition and the field for over 30 years. She regularly beats on two local shoots with her English Springer Spaniel and has trained her family Labrador for work as a peg and picking up dog. However more than anything Jane just loves teaching people how to enjoy living with their pet gundog, how to utilise all that energy and understand just what makes them tick!
