Puppy Training Classes Newcastle

Sage at 10 Weeks

‘We have such a short time to make a good impression on our new puppy and to establish good manners which will stay with them for the rest of their life.  The earlier we can teach them how we want them to behave, the less likely problems will arise as they grow into adulthood.  Training your puppy should always be fun for both you and your dog.’

Sue McCabe from Muttamorphosis Dog Training

Puppy Home Advice Visits

Many new puppy owners find the first two weeks with their new puppy a challenge, when bad habits can become established without intention.   By the time new owners join puppy class, they may find they have already taught their dog behaviours which could later become a problem.   Increasingly, new puppy owners are taking the opportunity to teach only good manners from the very first day they bring their puppy home, with the help of Muttamorphosis Dog Training & Behaviour Puppy Home Advice Visits.

Each visit lasts an hour and a half and costs £60, with a full written training programme sent following the visit, to help work through the issues you may be having.  Topics covered include crate training; teaching puppy to be content alone; house training; stealing and guarding household objects; house rules and teaching children and dogs to get along safely.  Any other worries which the family may have can be discussed.  It’s best to book your Puppy Home Advice visit to coincide with the first few days of bringing your puppy home.  Please get in touch for more information or to book a visit.

Free Puppy Party in conjunction with Westway Vets, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Muttamorphosis Dog Training & Behaviour runs a Free Puppy Party every month at Westway Vets, Fenham, Newcastle Upon Tyne.  During this hour long session, newly vaccinated puppies will have the chance to meet and greet dogs of their own age, and well adjusted adult dogs.  Topics of conversation and advice include socialising your puppy, your dog and the law, health and welfare and finding a suitable puppy training class.  For more information on the next free Puppy Party, please check the right hand panel for upcoming dates or get in touch.

Fun & Informative Puppy Socialisation Classes

The best time to get your puppy used to the human world is between 3 and 14 weeks.  Your breeder should have started the socialisation process and you, the new owner must continue to introduce your puppy to lots of new experiences with other people, dogs and animals.  Puppy Socialisation Class is a great way to have fun with your new dogs, while getting advice on how best to train your puppy in the most important weeks of his life.  Our classes aim to help your puppy grow into a happy, well-mannered adult dog, who is a joy to own.  Through positive reinforcement, including methods based on clicker training, your puppy will learn that training is fun and that his best friend truly is his owner.

We’ll teach appropriate greetings for other dogs and people.  Basic training and puppy challenges such as biting, jumping up, alone time, walking on leash and house training will be managed using fun positive methods, which you and your dog will both enjoy.

Puppy Socialisation Classes currently take place at Denton Burn Community Centre, Slatyford Lane, Newcastle Upon Tyne. The course runs for five weeks and cost £75.  Puppies should be no older than 16 weeks of age at the start of class.

Places are limited to insure all dogs get the attention they deserve and owners do not feel overwhelmed. As such, these courses usually book up in advance.  Please get in touch using the contact form to enquire about the next course date or to book your place.  Please note: we can only accept fully vaccinated dogs.
